How do I know when it is the right time to place a loved
one? |
|
| Typically, when you feel
your loved one is needing more attention and time than
you can provide, it is probably time to at least start
day care. |
| |
| |
| ::
How long can a resident stay before they need to move? |
|
| The length of a resident’s
stay at Rosewood Specialty Care is determined by their
required care level. Each resident’s health and
care needs are monitored closely by our licensed staff
to ensure medical and physical needs are continuing
to be properly met. We realize moving a loved one is
a difficult decision—especially when they are
well adjusted to their surroundings. If our staff determines
the care needs exceed that which is available at Rosewood
Specialty Care, we will communicate our recommendations
to the family. |
| |
|
| ::
Who takes care of medications and calling the doctors? |
|
| Our RN, LPN’s and
Med Aides communicate with doctors regarding medications,
health issues and also handle ordering medications. |
| |
|
| ::
What is the pricing structure? |
|
Pricing is based on
the needs and services required. Our registered nurse
conducts an assessment to determine necessary needs
and services. |
| |
|
| ::
Is there around-the-clock staffing? |
|
| Yes. Our facility is fully
staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with trained professionals—including
LPN’s and Med Aides. |
| |
|
| ::
Do you have an activity program? |
|
| We believe a healthy,
active lifestyle significantly contributes to the welfare
of our residents. Therefore, our Activity Director maintains
a full calendar of events, such as games, crafts and
cooking, and outings in our van to activities such as
dances, shopping, country drives, and much more. To
learn more about our activities and to view a current
activity calendar click here. |
| |
|
| ::
Do you accommodate special diets? |
|
| We accommodate special
diet needs, such as texture diets for residents who
may need it. Three delicious meals are prepared from
scratch each day so that residents can enjoy meals that
are both nutritious and appealing to their taste. Plus,
three snacks are provided daily. To learn more about
our dining program and to view a sample menu, click

|
| ::
Is your staff specially trained to take care of Alzheimer’s
people? |
|
| Each member of our staff
attends ongoing training regarding the care of individuals
with memory impairment, including that which is required
by the State of Oregon. Training sessions are conducted
by a combination of our RN Director of Health Services
and guest lecturers. |
| |
|
| ::
How often should I visit? |
|
| Most residents with memory
impairment benefit from short visits. As a family member
the frequency of your visits should be based on what
you feel comfortable with. We do recommend that you
refrain from visiting during mealtime. |

What is the difference between Day Care and Respite
Care? |
|
| Day Care is a service
provided for all or part of a day. While your loved
one is with us, they can take part in all the scheduled
activities, which may include a bus trip to local attractions.
Day Care is available daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Respite
Care is an overnight service that is often provided
for a number of consecutive days in a private apartment.
Both programs enable your loved one to enjoy amenities
and quality dining in the safety of a secure and professionally
staffed environment. |
| |
|
| ::
What is the criteria for placement at your facility? |
|
| Individuals in need of
a safe and secure environment who come to our facility
for Day Care, Respite Care or permanent placement would
need to have a physician diagnosis of Alzheimer’s
or some other form of dementia. |
| |
|
| ::
What if my mother has dementia but my father does not? |
|
| There may be times when
one parent requires care for memory impairment and the
other does not. In those cases, Rosewood Park Retirement
and Assisted Living is located directly across the street
from our building. This makes visits for spouses more
convenient. |
| |
|
| ::
Are you a locally-owned company? |
|
| Yes. We are one of three
facilities that are part of the Seabold Family of Senior
Housing. All three facilities are located in the Hillsboro
area. Cornell
Estates Retirement and Assisted Living opened in
1989, Rosewood
Park Retirement and Assisted Living opened in 1996. |
| |
|
| ::
How can I better protect my loved one from getting lost? |
|
| The Alzheimer's
Association offers a "safe return"
bracelet program that will keep you and your loved one
connected. |
